Education in Georgia

GA Dept of Education:

The Georgia Department of Education has a State Wide graduation rule which establishes the minimum academic requirements a student

The Graduation Rule establishes the minimum academic requirements a student must meet in order to graduate from a Georgia public high school.

A local school system may enact additional graduation requirements above and beyond the state rule.

Georgia has a revised and improved cirriculum, and a new graducation rule was necessary in order to align with the state's revised cirriculum.

The new rule has been drafted and will be up for approval by the State Board of Education later this year. It will go into effect for the freshman class of the 2008-2009 school year.

The Graduation Rule was created by a committee of representatives from local school districts, GaDOE, the University System of Georgia, the Department of Adult/Technical Education and other committees of , the Governor's Office of Student Achievement.

To view more on this proposed new rule and to read the entire proposal, please visit the Georgia Department of Education website by clicking the link below. A call to the Georgia Department of Education will also obtain the answers you desire.
