Whether you are moving across town or across the country, Your Janet Whitfield Realty Sales Professional can offer you many suggestions on making your transition as seamless as possible.
If you've ever moved before, you know the endless preparations and decisions can be a little overwhelming. If you complete several tasks ahead of the move, it will make moving day a lot easier. Take these tips into consideration:
1. Mark your boxes to identify what items they contain. This helps the movers to be more efficient.
2. Prior to moving, (very possibly during the final walk through), label the floor with the names of the furniture that will be placed. This will make the movers more efficient. The furniture will be placed in its proper place the minute it comes off of the truck.
3. Ask the sellers if you can set up the bed frames in every bedroom (Just the Frames) one day prior to moving in. (possibly during the last walk through). This way, when the movers come with the beds, your helpers who have each been assigned a room to put in order can immediately begin dressing the bed the minute the movers place the box spring and mattress on the frame.
4. Moving clothes is a snap! Use a roll of brown string. Open your closet, separate a group of hanging clothes, and tie the brown string around the group. Lift the tied group out of the closet and lay them flat in the back seat of your car. Do this several times until all of the clothes hanging in the closet have been moved. When you get to the new house, lift each group out of your car, hang them in the closet and then cut the string. It's that simple!
5. Prepare 2 - 3 complete meals and freeze them so that you will not have to cook during the first three days of your move. Plan a fun and quick meal for moving day like pizza and cold drinks! Don't forget to offer the movers some refreshments also!
